Good afternoon everyone,

I hope you are all enjoying the season so far, we have been very busy with lots of activity going on at the club which is great to see. Last week we were lucky to have the first Year 3/4 and Year 5/6 Girls games being played at our home ground Richard Guelfi Reserve. This was a significant achievement as in all the years we’ve had Girls’ teams they have had to travel to other grounds so to be able to play at home, surrounded by their family and friends was very nice to see. Both teams played a fantastic game and enjoyed a special pasta meal prepared by Tanya, Linda, and parent helpers in the canteen.

Our Auskickers played a half time game against Noranda Auskick at the Stirling Saints Senior game last Saturday. We had over 60 Auskick kids come down and participate. This would have been very nerve racking to run out and play on the big oval, but they all handled it so well and it was encouraging to see all the supporters cheering them on. They then celebrated the day with a Sausage Sizzle provided by the Seniors to say thank you! Thanks to the Seniors for showing leadership and encouragement to the kids on the day. Also Thank you to Mimma and Dave for coordinating the event – there is always a lot of work in the lead up to these events and we appreciate the hard work and time that goes into this. This week’s Auskick was unfortunately cancelled due to severe weather warnings and consideration for players safety. We look forward to seeing them back in two weeks after the long weekend.

Last Sunday was an extremely busy day at the club with “Zippole (Italian Donuts) Day” as well as 5 home games being played at our home ground. The club was buzzing with activity from as early as 6.30am where the members from the “Communita di Delianuova” as well as most Committee members started preparing for the event and making the dough fresh in the club house. This cooking went all day right up to the end of the last game at 5pm. The rainy weather didn’t keep anyone away, we were amazed by the number of visitors we received on the day to show support for our club and the Year 6 fundraiser. Thank you to all the people that attended, especially those that gave up their time and helped at the event and at the Canteen – your help does not go unnoticed.

Last Sunday also marked the first home game played by the Year 10 merge “Stirling Carine” team. It was fantastic to see them running out in the Stirling colours and as of today they will be wearing their new merge jumpers – keep an eye out for them on Social Media.

Speaking of uniforms, all training shirts have now arrived and been distributed to team managers. Remember, if you still require any uniform items please arrange to come to the uniform shop. We have lots of stock and a range of new hoodies which are very popular and are selling quickly! The uniform shop is open every week Monday – Wednesday 4.30 to 6.30pm, Auskick Saturdays and home game Sundays by appointment, please check with Sandra on 0409 104 353 for weekend times.

As we mentioned the club does not run successfully without the help of our volunteers. The volunteers of the week for the last 2 weeks are Valissa Ford & Daniela Carulli. Valissa was nominated for the amazing job that she does as Team Manager for the year 10 merge team each week, taking care of both our Stirling players and parents as well as those from Carine. She has navigated a new team environment and has been highly praised by the Carine coach and both clubs. Daniela was nominated for all her efforts with first aid duties at nearly every Year 6 Red team game as well as helping with Zippole Day. Daniela always puts her hand up without complaint and is a fantastic help to the team, managers and is great with the kids. Thank you to the both of you, we greatly appreciate all that you do for the club.

This week’s Volunteers of the Week are Vanessa Nastasi and Sam Multari. Both have an amazing commitment to this club and the committee even though their children are not playing at the club. Vanessa has taken on the Treasurer role as well as always being available to help in different areas, especially in the canteen. She is always willing to share her knowledge and ideas to benefit the club and our members. Sam is always somewhere around the club and is a phone call away whenever anyone has needed him. He has attended training sessions as well as stepped in as Assistant Coach to give advice and support to many of our coaches and teams where needed. I can’t thank both of them enough for all their support and appreciate all the help they have given me in my role as President. A

Another special thank you must go to Jarrad Nastasi and Ebony Rzemek. Jarrad assisted all day in the canteen on Mother’s Day and Ebony assisted all day in the Canteen and on the Donut stand on Zippole Day. I was very proud to see the younger generation step up and help with a smile of their faces especially considering that both of them are not current players yet were there to support our club.

Upcoming Events

The Subiaco Family Fun Day scheduled for yesterday was cancelled because of the weather but will be rescheduled. As part of this day our own Michelle Germano, our Registrar & Managers Co-Ordinator, was to be presented with the District Volunteer of the Month Award. We are so very proud of Michelle and all her hard work and are very happy that she has been recognised both by all of us and by the Subiaco District.

For the month of June our Managers Co-ordinators Laura & Michelle and their helpers will be scheduling Beef and Gravy Roll Nights for the children and their families after training. Your managers will let you know when it’s your team’s night but please also check TeamApp and social media.

Next weekend is a bye for all teams except the Girls competitions who will still be playing their normal Friday night games. This is due to the delay in start for them because of Covid restrictions. If you are free, please show your support and attend a game to cheer the girls on. After this week teams may be regraded and new fixtures will be released, your managers will advise but you can also check out TeamApp.

Looking forward to another busy few weeks around the club and as mentioned if there are any queries, feedback etc please feel free to contact me to have a chat. Enjoy the rest of your week.

Hello Everyone,

This week marks the second round of games for the Boys competition and round one for the Girls after what I must say was a rocky start due to Covid restrictions.

Firstly, I would like to thank each and every one of you for your conduct and following of the rules while the Covid restrictions were in place. The committee and I worked tirelessly on the Saturday night before the first round to ensure that you all felt safe and happy to play. This took several calls to other club presidents, officials, and the district to ensure that we were following the correct process. I am happy to say that the feedback we received as a club was very positive with other club presidents commending us for following the rules and putting measures into place to safeguard other families and children which they appreciated.

Now that Covid restrictions have eased once more, it is great to see the crowds back (while still social distancing) in great numbers supporting our kids which is what it is all about.

I was fortunate enough to make it to Auskick last Saturday morning. It was great seeing over 70 kids ranging from pre-primary to year 2 having such a great time under the guidance of our Auskick coordinator Mimma Rombola and our coaches coordinator David Traynor. I also made it to all the junior games this week except for the year 5/6 Girls which I will be sure to attend first off this week. I was very impressed with the setup, conduct of Managers, Coaches, volunteers and supporters at all the games I attended.

Several of our games were also attended by the Subiaco district officials. When speaking to each of them the same positive message came across that I witnessed. This being that we were following the rules, showing great sportsmanship and most importantly there was a great vibe with the kids having fun!

We had 4 home games played at Richard Guelfi Reserve this week and had the Canteen open for all games. Thank you to Tanya & Vanessa, all the other Committee members as well as the parent volunteers that assisted on Saturday and Sunday. Remember many hands make light work, so if you are free to help even out even for a short period, please do so. To offer a canteen at these games is very important for our club so any help will be greatly appreciated.

Speaking of volunteers, being a junior club, we rely on volunteers to keep the games running as smoothly as possible. Your Coaches and Managers do a lot of work behind the scenes, during the week not only on the actual game day. It would be greatly appreciated if you can assist and put your hand up whenever you can to help them. It could be as simple as carrying equipment to the field for first game set up or packing up after the last game- this is one less job they need to do. If you are not sure just ask the question.

Our volunteer of the week winner for round one went to Tony Ricciardello, Coach of the year 6 Black team. Our volunteer winner for round 2 is Caterina Celisano, manager of the year 3 team. Congratulations to you both for being nominated for all your efforts. Please email your Volunteer of the Week nominations to me or any committee member. Volunteers chosen will receive a $50 voucher from Birraz Ristobar in Mount Hawthorn.

We are looking forward to a fantastic season with many social and club events coming up throughout the year so be sure to connect with us on Facebook, Instagram and TeamApp to keep informed. On Sunday the 23rd of May we will be having “Italian Donut Day” at the club. There will be hot food, homemade Italian biscuits and hot freshly made donuts for sale. All money raised from the Donuts and biscuits will go towards the Year 6 Boys teams who are fundraising for their year 7 footy trip scheduled for next year!
There are 5 games on at home that day and for the Auskickers, girls’ teams and teams playing away we would love to see you at the club to show your support. All family and friends are welcome so come down, eat some delicious food, and support your footy team and our great club.

I am so proud to be the President of such a family-oriented club, where there is unity and where we all share the same goal: that our children are safe and looked after, their skills are continually being developed and they are playing in a happy and fun environment – this is what is important.

As always if you have any suggestions or feedback, please feel free to chat to me or any one of the committee members.

Many thanks,

Dom Caccamo

President

Dear all players, sponsors, parents, team managers, coaches and committee members.

For those of you who don’t know, my name is Domenic (Dom) Caccamo and I am excited to have taken on the role as President of the Stirling Junior Football Club (SJFC). I wish to thank my Committee made up of returning and new members who have come on board and together we will aim to make the next season a fun and exciting time for our players, families and club as a whole.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing President Vanessa Nastasi and Vice President Peter Yow for all the hard work they have put in over the years. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes to keep the club running and without a doubt we could not have been as successful as we were without them. I also thank all past committee members for your support and dedication as without you events and smooth running of our club also would not have been possible.

As season 2020 comes to a close, I want to take this opportunity to say congratulations to our players, members and coaches on a successful 2020. We understand that this year was a “little different” to say the least, as we were all dealing with the worldwide COVID Pandemic. I must commend you, you all took this in your stride and did what was needed to ensure that our kids were provided a safe environment to play and most importantly have fun!

Like most sporting clubs, we rely heavily on our sponsors to keep our club going. 2020 has been a difficult year for many businesses small and large. To those that have been able to assist us in 2020 and those committed for 2021 let me say on behalf of myself, the Committee and our members, Thank You!. Without you, we would not have a club.

Our Sponsors are vital for the survivorship of our club, by way of upkeep/replacement of football equipment, First Aid equipment, apparel and club events. If you, or someone you know would like to sponsor or make a donation to our club we are always appreciative. Our Sponsorship Coordinator is available and ready to talk to you.

Myself and my fellow Committee members are in the planning stages for Season 2021, and we hope to see positive changes to the Club, and with guidance from the WAFC (West Australian Football Commission) in relation to training sessions, player development, coaches development, and more events and community engagement with our Sponsors.

I am pleased to announce that the Committee have decided for the upcoming 2021 season, that Registration Fees will NOT increase, but will remain the same as 2020 with some added extras for our players.

Your 2021 registration will include:
Auskick

  • An AFL Auskick pack sent directly from the AFL
  • Training shirt and cap for all returning players
  • New players to the Stirling Saints will be provided with a training shirt, shorts, socks and a cap.
Junior and Youth Players to Stirling (Year 3 and up)
  • Training shirt and cap for all returning players
  • New players to Stirling Saints will receive a player pack consisting of a football bag, jacket, training shirt, shorts, socks and a cap.

For all registered players there will be an End of Season wind up including trophies for all members and a Team photo. There will also be weekly team awards and various activities throughout the year including, team dinners, club nights and other fun events.

Registrations for junior and youth players are now open and Auskick will be live as of December 2020 and can be accessed through our website http://www.stirlingjfc.com.au
